The Fun Begins At Busch Gardens

Williamsburg, Va. – The Busch Gardens theme park in Williamsburg will open just in time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day for the 2013 Season on March 17, and kick off a season filled with fun for the entire family. A celebration for this special day includes an exclusive Celtic Dyne experience, leprechauns and plenty of holiday-themed refreshments.

Park guests will notice some not-so-subtle changes at the park this year including the newly renovated and expanded entrance that highlights the park’s inherent beauty. Some of the minor changes include vibrant colors, a decorative water feature and beautiful landscapes.

“We wanted to make a lasting first impression on our guests when they arrive and we believe these changes will kick off a memorable and fun day for everyone,” said Busch Gardens’ Park President Carl Lum.

The Virginia Wine Expo Returns

Do you have a passion for wine?

Do you want to meet others with that same passion?

If yes was the answer to either of these questions then the Virginia Wine Expo, held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, will be an event you cannot miss.

From February 19th through the 24th the Virginia Wine Board will be benefiting the Feed More organization, which is a hunger relief organization that works with the Virginia Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and the Community Kitchen.

The Walk-Around Grand Tasting, on Saturday, February 23rd, seems to be the most anticipated event of the weekend.

The tasting event gives patrons an unique opportunity to walk around and sample different quality wines found throughout Virginia. Doors open for the grand tasting at 11am and online tickets are $36.00.

Williamsburg Police Participate in Drug Take Back Day for Prescription Drugs

Williamsburg Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be giving the public an

opportunity to dispose of unused prescription medications at certain drop-off locations on September 29th, from 10

a.m. to 2 p.m.  This event is a vital public safety and health issue.  The usual method for disposing of unused

medications, either flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash, can pose potential safety and

health hazards. Unused and expired medications are often obtained from friends and family, including the

home medicine cabinet, which according to studies - tends to lead to the majority of prescription drug abuse.

The DEA and its partners have had four previous Take Back Events and collected over 1.5 million pounds,

nearly 775 tons, of pills.

Congress passed the Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act of 2010, which amends the Controlled

National Take-Back Initiative

The James City County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will be collecting expired, and potentially dangerous, unwanted prescription drugs. This event will be held on April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center.

This initiative provides an opportunity to the public to release controlled substances and other medications. This also lessens the chance for an individual to become addicted to these medications. For any questions regarding this program, contact Sgt. Humphries with the James City Council Police Department at 757-603-6022 or visit the website.
